Chorus is offered to 7th and 8th grade students as an elective enrichment class. This means students must sign up for the class. Chorus is not in the rotation of enrichment classes (as in elementary grades). Chorus meets Monday – Friday during the school day. This enables students who do after school activities (sports, dance, private lessons, etc.) to participate also. Students may choose to join chorus for the full year or just one semester (Aug.-Dec. or Jan.-June). Chorus students learn proper singing technique, music reading, and the joy of group singing. Anyone who likes to sing is welcome to join!

The Fairview Chorus performs throughout the year for school assemblies and concerts, Talent Show and travels to area nursing homes to perform. The chorus also participates in the Middle School Choral Day on the campus of Western Carolina University. This is a day in which students join with chorus students from the other Jackson County Schools and sing as one large chorus. A guest conductor rehearses with them throughout the day and a concert is presented in the evening.

The cost for chorus is minimal. Students must purchase a chorus t-shirt and meals for the choral day (spring semester only). Financial assistance is available for anyone who needs it.
